My Story

My journey started in college. I went to college my freshman year and I gained more than the freshman 15. I gained nearly 30 pounds. I went home that following summer determined to lose that weight. I was able to accomplish losing all 30 pounds and some by a strict diet and a lot of exercies. Not without a price. That summer is when I became anorexic. I continued my battle with my eating disorder for nearly two years before getting help and overcoming it.

Since then my weight has fluctuated greatly, especially in my 20's. I knew a little about nutrition but found the best control for my weight was running. I started running to contol my weight and it has developed into a hobby. I am a runner. I ran through the last three of my pregnancies. I have completed 5ks, 10ks, 1/2 Marathons and even a full 26.2 miles. I used running for exercise but I didn't yet realize the importance of diet and cross training. When the weather was bad, or it was too dark to get up before my husband left for work I was forced on the treadmill...or rather the dreadmill is what I prefer to call it. Every minute on that thing seems like an hour to me!

I am a nurse. I have been for 17 years. I worked the night shift for 16 years. It was after having my fourth child that I came to a point I knew something needed to change.

By the fourth child I was often not sleeping before heading inot the night shift and after getting the kids off the bus, making dinner and heading out to work I would get about 3 hours of unrestful sleep. You can imagine what my mental state was starting to become. I was a zombie. A half me. A shell of who I really am. I was present with my family but not really present.

I knew I needed a change and began looking for an opportunity that would allow me to stay home  with my kids more and be at work away from my family less. I was looking for something new. It wa then that I began noticing what my old college friend was doing. She was helping others eat well and exercise, earning a living and living a life she loved. I didn't realize that one facebook message would impact my life so dramatically.

I found this amazing opportunity to not only work on myself but to also help others achieve their goals with accountablity, healthy eating and exercise. This was not quick fix, a pill, or a short term solution. This was the real deal. I was all in and my journey began. I learned that although I thought I was eating healthy I was far from it. I learned how important it was to eat whole foods and which ones were better than others. I learned how strengthening my core, upper body along with your lower body actually increases my running speed. I learned through personal development how to handle life's curve balls so much better. I learned how to be present in the moment and enjoy each day. I was able to take a job part time during the days teaching cardiac patients how to lead a healthy life to prevent further illness. Most importantly I have been able to be home with my kids more and to be present with them. I am simply a better person today than I was 2 years ago. My life is forever changed and I am so unbelievably grateful.

I am now on a mission to bring others on this healthy lifestyle to see what it can do for them. It has changed my life exponencially and when you find something amazing you want to share it with others.
